Toddler Dance

Once you have decided to let your child dance, it is important to carefully choose a dance class. Your choice of a dance teacher is critical. Most importantly, choose a teacher that your child can look up to as an example of a good dancer, while having fun taking dance lessions.

The required wardrobe of toddler dance clothing will be determined by the type of dance being taught. Special dance shoes will be required for most dance styles, including toddler ballet shoes for ballet and toddler tap shoes for tap. Your dance teacher will probably have a preference for clothing, such as a black leotard with pink tights for a ballet dancer.

Toddler Ballet Dancewear

When you think about all the dancewear that a ballet dancer needs it sounds like a lot. It sounds really expensive too! What about those who start their kids in the toddler age group? That just means more years and more expense right? Well that doesn't have to be the case, you can always find toddler ballet dancewear at discounted prices online.

You will need the following toddler dancewear items, toddler ballet shoes, toddler leotards and toddler tights. It is not hard to find these items and if you do a little research, you can save alot of money overtime. It is amazing what a little bit of searching will do for your bank account!

When you think about the supplies that you will need, you think basics, but there are other things to consider too. Aside from the normal shoes, and dance clothes, you should really be thinking about items like tape, and wraps. Sounds silly I know, but you will at one point need these things.

When putting together a kit, or bag of things needed for dance class make sure you included a lot of different stuff, like and extra pair of shoes, extra leotards, extra tights, basically an extra of everything. You may want to include some first aid supplies too like band aids, and ice packs for sore toes. Duct tape is absolutely crucial and its a lot cheaper!

Another must on your list should be a sewing kit for emergancies. Before your little dear goes on stage you want to make sure that all her sequins are intact, and if there are any holes or rips to get them stitched up in no time at all.

Keeping a dancers muscles warm help prevent injuries, so make sure your dancer has plenty of legwarmers! They look silly, but kids love them, and they do have a purpose!

Last and certainly not least you want keep the dancer hydrated. Dancing is a lot of work, and at the end of a class they will likely be very tired. So make sure there is a water bottle or two for re hydration. Snacks like trail mix and granola are an excellent way to re boost energy following a grueling dance class.

So there you have it, a few ins and out of ballet supplies that should be kept on hand at all times. Just remember, it doesn't have to cost a fortune!

Ballet Shoes and Girl Dancewear

Probably the most important part of a ballet dancer's equipment is ballet shoes. After several years of proper training, some female ballet dancers wear pointe shoes to make them appear lighter and more delicate. Ballet dancers wear tights and leotards to class and rehearsals, as tight, form-fitting clothing is best for dancing. Tutus, or ballet skirts, are usually reserved for performances and recitals

At What Age Should My Child Begin Ballet Class

Parents often seem in a rush to enroll their children in toddler ballet classes. However, formal ballet training should not be introduced until the age of 8. Before then, a child's bones are too soft for the physical demands and exercises of ballet. It is actually possible to delay training until the age of 10 or 12 and still have a great future in ballet.

Pre-ballet classes are often offered to dancers between the ages of 4 and 8. Most teachers believe that the attention spans of 3-year-olds are too short to deal with, and prefer parents to wait until a child is at least 4. Pre-ballet classes have become quite popular in private dance studios. The classes are loosely organized and simple. Toddlers are encouraged to move around the room to the rhythms of different styles of music. Some pre-ballet classes may even introduce students to the five positions of ballet, stressing the importance of proper posture.

Toddler Ballet Shoes

Toddler ballet shoes are essential for children that are learning the ballet dance. The lightweight and flexible nature of leather make the ballet shoes most comforting to wear. Over time, the leather of toddler ballet shoes becomes even more flexible and softer to wear. Toddler ballet shoes come in all assortments of color and can be dyed upon request.

Toddler ballet shoes are most worn by younger ballet dancers. Point ballet shoes are not introduced to the ballet student until they are at least 13 years old, depending on the circumstance.

How to Buy a Girls Dance Leotard

Determine what your needs are in buying a girls leotard. This might be for a dance class, dance performance, or even for work-out attire. Once you have determined your purpose, you can move on to deciding what type of fabric or material your leotard should be made of. There are many selections to pick from, such as cotton, lycra and spandex. Also, consider if your leotard selection needs to have a built in bra or extra lining. Consider the style of child leotard you will purchase to make sure that it has the support and style for the type of activity it will be worn for.

Check with dancewear or fitness retailers. These are found in malls, shopping centers, work-out facilities, dance studios and booths set up at dance workshops and conventions. These retailers will have large selections of basic toddler leotards for the young dancer and are even more advanced leotards for the older girl.

Ask your dance instructor to help you select a leotard to order from one of their dancewear catalogs. These can usually be shipped anywhere from overnight to several weeks, depending upon how much you want to spend and how soon you will need the leotard. If you are buying leotards for an entire group, ordering through your dance director is usually the best way to handle a large purchase.

Search online or the Internet to find dancewear or fitness retailers to order online and have your leotard purchase shipped directly to your door step.

Tootsies Children Dancewear has been selling girls dance leotards online since 2002 and in its retail store, Tootsies Stride Rite, since 1985. For more information about Tootsies, simply click on our store name, Tootsies Children Dancewear.
